Employed as: Other, non-employee, for N/A

CSX has been telling that lie for at least 15 years. The only thing
that has changed is the annual pay is up from about $36K and you
didn't have to pay $10K to go to the college of railroad knowledge.
You didn't say which terminal your at...don't. Check out the Railroad
retirement web site, there's a job board and links to
other carrier's web sites.
Usually the furloughs don't begin until Sept. Sounds like they hired
you for a terminal that didn't need any body to begin with.
I was hired for Mobile but they didn't love me or the other 6 or 7
that CSX hired for Mobile. We were given a choice...go to New Orleans
or go to the street. It took a year and a six month furlough
but we all got to Mobile.
Hang in there...until you get a couple of years seniority, you'll be
subject to furloughs.
